The drunkard's path pattern is a great way to practice quilting curves, and is a block of the month designed for intermediate quilters. I have used drunkard's path templates to make the blocks (5 inch finished block). Use the quilt photograph as a guide and match a background arch with a quarter circle. Most drunkard's path templates are intentionally a little oversized, because that allows you to square up the unit after it's sewn.
